Why Fruit Is A Bad Diet Choice
One of the biggest culprits that sabotage your success when it comes to losing the belly is having fruit which isn’t commonly known amongst healthy diet seekers, especially with the famous ‘5 a day’ campaign that is now often promoted by the government.
A study of more than 4,500 people with no history of high blood pressure revealed that those who ate more than 74g of fructose a day increased their risk of suffering with it by 87%… are you hearing this?
There is no denying that fruit has a high level of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants which are good for you but when too much sugar is consumed, your blood sugar levels can spike out of control leading to weight gain.
So is there a difference between added sugar and natural sugars? Yes there is, the added ‘refined’ sugars found in processed foods boost your blood sugar levels much more rapidly than the natural sugars found in fruit, but ultimately it’s all going to end up impacting your blood sugar levels.
Many people will have excess sugars floating around without realising it and that 1 piece of fruit after a meal can be all it takes to have insulin kicking in and storing it all as body fat, basically sabotaging any previous efforts made.
So how much fruit is a healthy amount to have per day? No more than two pieces maximum however if you are looking to lose weight, it’s not a bad idea to cut out fruit in the efforts to detox from sugar in your diet.
The best fruit choices that are recommended by us are berries such as blackberries, blueberries and raspberries due to their lower carbohydrate content whilst fruit such as bananas are the worst due to a high glycemic load.
The answer is focusing more on vegetables as part of your 5 a day which is going to lower the amount of sugar consumed by default without all the negative health risks.
