Do You Drink Wine To Relax?

You may have heard that a glass of wine a day is good for you, your doctor may have also recommended it but here is how we see things.

Wine has many benefits, particularly red wine due to it’s high level of anti-oxidants and polyphenols which reduce the risk of degenerative disease, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Also, alcohol can also improve blood flow and reduce your risk of blood clotting in the body.

Like anything you can eat or drink that is deemed ‘healthy’, the benefits only come when consumed in moderate amounts.

Do you find yourself regularly turning to a glass of wine as your sole source of relaxation or stress relief? If the answer is yes, that means you have strongly associated the two and this can become a problem down the road if not monitored, especially when you spouse is on the same level.

Problems can range from excessive weight gain to increasing your risk of certain cancers, so it’s important to bear in mind that there are other ways of reducing stress and relaxing.

Alternative ways to relax and de-stress after a hard days work include;

  1. Having a hot bath
  2. Reading a good book
  3. Having a healthy meal
  4. Doing some exercise
  5. Having a cup of tea
  6. Meditation
  7. Going for a walk
  8. Watching a movie
  9. General hobbies
  10. Have a romantic meal
