3 Simple Ways To Have All Day Energy

3 Simple Ways To Have All Day Energy

We have all been there, you wake up in the morning and you some how get yourself into work even though you are exhausted from lack of sleep and long days grinding away.

The afternoon arrives and all of a sudden you feel like you’ve been hit with a sledgehammer, you start dreaming of a mattress due to poor energy levels but don’t worry, this can be improved.

Here are 3 simple ways you can keep your energy up all day so you can perform at your best.

TIP 1: Load up on the protein, not the carbs

Carbohydrates are viewed as the best source of energy but loading up on them can often lead to a lack of energy. Donald K Layman, a professor of nutrition at the University of Illinois conducted a study that a showed a positive impact on energy levels when protein intake was increased and carbohydrate was decreased.

It’s generally recommended that you keep your carbohydrate levels below 150g a day and they should only come from healthy sources which do not include bread, pasta, cereal and rice unless they are wholegrain.

TIP 2: Improve Your Hydration Levels

Did you know that feeling exhausted, tired and even headaches are a sign of dehydration? Our bodies are mostly made up of water so it makes sense to drink plenty of it since even a small dip in hydration can slow down your metabolic rate (bad news for dieters), even if it means a few more trips to the mens room! Aim to have 2 – 3 litres per day, however it does vary from person to person.

Don’t worry if that sounds like a lot, fruit and vegetables also include plenty of water so that helps too.

TIP 3: Go For A Walk And Get Moving

When you feel exhausted, the last thing you feel like doing is moving your body but it’s actually one of the best things you can do in that moment! Movement is energy so you can’t help but feel better for doing it.

Scientific studies show that a 10 minute walk can have lasting effects for up to 2 hours afterwards, which is ideal when you need to go back to work and you want to improve your mood plus get a little energy kick.

Ultimately, drinking plenty of water, exercising, eating a balanced diet and reducing the coffee is only going to have a positive effect however, you need to start somewhere, so start with these 3 tips!
